We are so excited to be bringing you the “Shamrock Spotlight Series” on our blogs! The Yuengling Shamrock Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, 8k Races bring thousands of runners, of all ages, abilities and locations, to the Virginia Beach oceanfront every year! As J&A Racing Live Love Run Ambassadors, we decided we wanted to celebrate these races, J&A Racing, and our community by doing a series that highlights participants, both local and out of town, on their journey to this years’ races.
We were incredibly fortunate to get the response we did when asking for volunteers to be spotlighted, and are grateful for the opportunity to share their stories with you!

SHAMROCK SPOTLIGHT SERIES: MAR from MAR ON THE RUN

Training for the Shamrock Marathon
Why you are running a Shamrock race in 2014? I was looking to run my first full marathon, and hear great reviews about Shamrock so I signed up!
When did you start running? Started running in college but more for exercise and not sport. Ran my first race in 2010 and have been running and racing ever since.
How many races have you done and what’s your favorite? In total well over 35!! Includes 13 half marathons, numerous 5ks, 10ks, 5 and 10 milers.
Where do you prefer to run? Outside if I can get it. DC has an amazing backdrop of monuments to run by and through.
What’s the longest distance you’ve run? About 15 miles (for now!)
What is the one thing you DON’T like about running? Getting started. First mile or so is always hardest to get rhythm going.
Favorite post-run indulgence? Froyo for sure! Beer after a big race if offered.
Favorite running shoe? Asics GT-2170
Favorite song to run to? At the moment totally rocking Timber by Pitbull and Ke$ha
Favorite website to waste time on? Entertainment Weekly (ew.com). They have a lot of great TV show recaps I like to peruse even if I don’t watch a show. And you get mindless celebrity “news” without being too gossipy!
Favorite running moment? Hands raised crossing the finish at the Pittsburgh half last May knowing I PR’d
If you could pick one celebrity to run with, who would it be? Ryan Gosling, isn’t that the answer to everything?
