We are so excited to be bringing you the “Shamrock Spotlight Series” on our blogs! The Yuengling Shamrock Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, 8k Races bring thousands of runners, of all ages, abilities and locations, to the Virginia Beach oceanfront every year! As J&A Racing Live Love Run Ambassadors, we decided we wanted to celebrate these races, J&A Racing, and our community by doing a series that highlights participants, both local and out of town, on their journey to this years’ races.
We were incredibly fortunate to get the response we did when asking for volunteers to be spotlighted, and are grateful for the opportunity to share their stories with you!

SHAMROCK SPOTLIGHT SERIES: COURTNEY DREDDON
Age 31
Current City: Washington DC
Training for the Shamrock Marathon
Courtney is a DC-based runner who definitely runs to eat. She recently completed her first marathon and is training for her second in March. Courtney loves exploring DC, traveling, her miniature dachshund, her church and losing herself in a good book.
Why you are running a Shamrock race in 2014? I love Virginia Beach (have vacationed there the past two years) and I heard SO MANY great things about Shamrock, I knew I wanted it to be my second marathon.
When did you start running? I ran track in high school then tapered off till law school. I’ve become more serious in the past year!
How many races have you done and what’s your favorite? Oh boy. I’ve run one full marathon, 4 half marathons, a bunch of 10 milers, 10ks and 5ks! I love the 10 miler distance! Long enough to be hard, but short enough that training doesn’t take over my life.
Where do you prefer to run? I love to run on the National Mall in DC.
What’s the longest distance you’ve run? 26.2!
What is the one thing you DON’T like about running? The injuries – I’ve been lucky to only have somewhat minor injuries, but it’s not fun!
Favorite post-run indulgence? BACON! No doubt.
Favorite running shoe? Love Mizunos!
Favorite song to run to? Eminem “Lose Yourself” – I know all the words, so can recite it to myself in my head as I run.
Favorite website to waste time on? Probably Twitter.
Favorite running moment? Crossing that finish line after my first marathon.
If you could pick one celebrity to run with, who would it be? Oprah! Life tips for EVERYBODY!
Good Luck Courtney!
